Oooh I’m so late posting this, but I’m going to start off by saying that I had a great March and that I am so happy that it is finally Spring! I have many fit favorites to share with you guys so let me stop rambling and get on with it.

My Favorite Home Workouts for March 2010
OK so this month was weird for me. All I wanted to do was for exercise was, shockingly, Step Moves. I posted on many a forums saying how I really dislike the workout, but ummm I gave it another try in March and it’s easy enough to learn, low impact, not fast paced and just soothing. To make it more intense or to give the workout intensity, I make sure to do jump, skips and hops wherever I can. I really need to start wearing a HRM so I can report to you all my estimated calorie burn.
I seem to be doing this workout a lot. I do it on my strength, circuit and on cardio days. Bit much? Of course! I don’t find the workout to be “dancey” like how Cathe or others describe it, but it is fun once you learn the moves. I consider Stepaholic to be a “dancey” stepper at best for example and no, Step Moves is nothing like Stepaholic so you now you get what I mean. So that is my one and only March favorite when it comes to workouts!
My Favorite Book(s) for March 2010
Well, I have been nosed buried all month in my Grow Veggies edition of Birds & Blooms magazine (which cost me $10.99 which was worth it) and that’s about it. I totally love this particular issue! I didn’t buy the subscription because I have too many magazines to read as it is (will make a seperate post about this soon), but I did buy this one in particular issue because it had information about and pictures of Michelle Obama’s organic garden at the White House which is over 2000 sq. ft. huge and they have added more space for this Spring’s garden. Everything you need to know about starting your own garden, maintaining it and updating it through the seasons is all in this magazine and you basically do not need another source. Awesome!

Check out a recent White House video where Michelle and city kids plant her Spring organic garden. I had to get it because Michelle is my girl, love her + I have been wanting to start my garden for a while now – since last year. The magazine is filled with instructions, tips and tricks on how to start a garden, how to care for one and there are lots of gardening gadgets that I didn’t know existed for sale and it lists lots of informative websites to say the least. There is so much more in this magazine. Get it!
Side Note: This weekend Hubby and I will be going out to buy some seeds and seedling pots to start our long awaited Spring organic garden. Since I am a novice at gardening I’m going to start out planting the basics like greens, tomatoes and possibly cucumbers. The hard part of this whole project is getting the ground ready and making homemade compost. Wish us luck!
Iphone or Itouch - Health / Fitness / Interests Apps
For those gardeners out there who needs a great gardening reference app then I say that Botanical Interests is a good source. There are some free gardening apps, but I like this app better than those. The wealth of information is drowning. It costs $5.99, but if you sign up for the newsletter at their website then you get 10% off that one time price. To me, it’s worth it. You don’t have to carry books and magazines around with you when you need a reference anywhere or when you’re out in the garden.
My Favorite Foods for March 2010
I have been going Baby Spinach crazy. I’ve been putting these little, refreshing green leaves in my eggs, salads and on my sandwiches religiously all of March and I think I’m going to continue on forever. Spinach as well as Baby Spinach is loaded with potassium and fiber AND it has a low glycemic index so this carb is AWESOME! Love!
New Purchases Made in March 2010
The only thing I picked up with my own money this month was Jillian Michaels’ Yoga Meltdown workout DVD and I love it. I love it. Love it. Love it. And I’ll be adding this workout in addition to my Kimberly Fowler Yoga workout on Sundays. I will do a full review on Yoga Meltdown sometime this month so look out for that. Oh and I got my copy at Costco for $7.99.

Annnnndddddd…in a couple of days I’m going to be posting a Yoga Meltdown DVD giveaway. One lucky person, who doesn’t have the workout yet, will have a chance to win it. The giveaway rules and such will be easy so no worries. May the best fitKandi win!!!
Nutrition and Fitness Wants for April 2010!
The only things I want is another haul of workout DVDs (the list is quite long) and Jackie Warner’s new book called, “This Is Why You’re Fat (And How to Get Thin Forever): Eat More, Cheat More, Lose More — and Keep the Weight Off“…whew that’s a long title!
Why do I want this book and I’m already thin? Well, I want the book to absorb all of Jackie’s nutrition and knowledge period. I also want this book because (look at her body) she knows what she’s talking about, I’m very responsive/alert when she talks in her workout videos, I love her workout videos and I’m most interested in her “Non-Cookers” recipes.
There was a pamphlet that came in Jackie’s Power Circuit DVD that talked a little about Jackie, her new book and it features a week long non-cookers meal plan…which I followed for two weeks and I must say that the only thing I had to cook were my eggs and fish. That’s it. You will definitely lose poundage if you follow the meal plan, which reminds me a lot like the eat clean diet, but there is one difference…I’ll get into during my book review post!
Have a wonderful April everyone!
