bK’s First Time Around Review…

I did this workout for the first time yesterday afternoon and I must say that it is a challenging workout at my fitness level following the advanced person in the workout.   The workout is easy to follow along and Tracie’s cues are on point.  She has a modifier in the workout as well and shows different modifications for certain exercises and explains them very well and demonstrates the first moves slowly.

This is a total body circuit so you’re moving your upper body along with your lower body.  Lots of compound exercises and plyo moves are in this workout.  I was happy to be taught a low impact way of performing jumping lunges in a high intensity way which is nice because my knees can’t take the impact of outright jumping lunges. The overall workout is low impact, but high intensity which is nice change for my knees right now.

I also did a plank, for the first time, on a stability ball with my feet on the floor. Usually, I would plank on a stability ball with the ball under my shins and my hands flat on the floor, but Tracie’s way was more challenging because I had to actually engage my core more to keep that ball under my forearms with my toes on the floor to stay in plank.  Love!

This workout really gets the heart rate up, but I was wishing for more cardio sections in it.  I didn’t wear my heart rate monitor and recently stopped doing it because no one can benefit from knowing my calorie burn numbers, but it is a good idea to wear on just in case you are not burning enough calories.

I workout on a consistent basis and I am in shape. I just wanted to say that first because I want to tell you how my body is feeling at the moment. Last night, I started feeling soreness in my glutes (upper and sides and in the back of my upper thighs. Nice! This morning I started feeling soreness in my lats a lot including my spinae, shoulders and in my upper core region. That means this workout was an effective one for me. Yes!

The warmups and cool downs are on point and are efficient. The stretches after workout is also on point.

Overall, this workout moves smoothly throughout and is not boring which is a plus for me.  Tracie is a great instructor who is full of life and moves with precision.  She has great form and so her mates in the video.  I can’t wait to try out the other two circuits I have of hers and I will be doing this workout again and again for sure. I have made a decision to make Tracie one of my personal trainers and I will be ordering her new DVDs as well.
