Hair Care Update #3 and Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everybody! Let’s start this year off with a bang…start eating better and working out on a consistent basis to keep your heart healthy and energy levels up! Make this year YOUR year!!! I’m in spirit cheering you all on!

Speaking of starting out on the right foot, I am proud to say that my 30 Day Shred team over at Spark People are AMAZING!!! We did a 24 hour New Years Day challenge where we had volunteers (including myself) to do the Shred for a total of 24 hours. I got the idea from a member over at Video Fitness forums and I thought it was a GREAT idea to start off a healthy and fit New Year. We did not reach the 24 hour goal, but we did reach 20! Yay! We cheered each other on and reported our progress. My time slot was at 3am ha! I did all three levels of the Shred and yes, I was a wee bit tired but I couldn’t let m team down – SUCCESS! We don’t go out for New Years. We just sit home and watch the Honeymooners marathon anyway so it was pure love and not a problem at all. :) Later on that day (around 1pm) I did my new Gloria Kamil workout for the first time (suffering from DOMS today – outer/inner thighs, outer pecs and shoulders – review coming soon) and I did Cathe’s Cardio Fusion combos only workout. I felt great afterwards!!!

The Hair

OK moving on…I have a hair update! Picture below…growing strong! I tried a new shampoo and condition by BioInfusion which I love. The shampoo lathers fast with just a squeeze of product and the conditioner really detangled any tangles I had (not much). The shampoo says it helps to repair damaged hair so that’s why I bought it and the condition claims to do the same.

I moisturized my hair, before and after, with BioFusion oil sheen spray and this new Motions product I’m trying out called, “Motions Marula Natural Therapy Hair and Scalp Oil“. I don’t like the packaging of this product because I have to spray on the oil…I’m rather pour it in my hand like my African Pride Oil, but the top doesn’t come off. I’m having the same issue with my Luster’s Pink Glosser (a hair finished spray that gives sheen) which will not spray anymore. Bleh! My hair came out shiney and healthy looking which was what I was going for.

Afterwards, I laid down my edges with Black and Sassy Style Smoothers (love – learned about this on Youtube) and put my hair up in a ponytail and took a pic. I popped in fake ponytail and sprayed the front on my own hair with Luster’s Pink Glosser (love this product) for more sheen and softness. When you workout 6 days a week like me you HAVE to keep your hair moisturized or it will dry up quick and break off.

Also, I had minimal hair shedding – great news. I put in a Pink Hot Oil Treatment in anyway just in case my ends decide they just want to break off. I started getting a little breaking starting about three days ago so I knew it was time for a relaxer. I try to wait until the last minute to go for a relaxer because it’s better for my ends that way.

I think that’s all I have for an update. I hope you all can see a difference because I do. My hair is growing at a consistent rate so that means I’m still on schedule for meeting my goal this summer.
