My journey to losing body fat started in December 2008 (pic on the left) and presently, October 2008 (pic on the right) I have come a very long way. I had reached my goal of losing 50lbs on January 7, 2009 so the before pic was taken in mid-December so there would be no change in body fat. Between January 7, 2009 and now, I have lost 10lbs on top of the 50 I had lost between July 12, 2008 and January 7, 2009 so…10lbs down and 10% body fat less later this is how I look today (the pic on the right).

No heads in these pics because I had some seriously crazy facial expressions going on. Not cute! Ha!
Do you see the difference??? It’s called leaning out baby. It’s about not losing weight, but dropping body fat. Right now, I’m a skinny fat girl and that means that I still have a good amount of body fat left on me, but I’m skinny at the same time. It’s the worse feeling in the World because after losing all of that weight one wants to be thin and look toned. It takes a lot of work depending o the person to build a nice physique in a certain amount of time. If I had to do it all over again (had I known – but educating myself and learning from others was a fun process though) I would have…
- immediately added fitness while dieting to lose weight
- added circuit workouts and strength at least two times per week into my fitness program
- used cardio workouts the most to help to burn body fat while losing weight
I am happy with my progress because I’m doing it the right way, it’s happening fast and maybe by the time April or May rolls around I shall be exposing muscle mass. When I flex my muscles pop out, but that’s not good enough for me. I want my mass to show on it’s on while at rest AND when flexed. Let’s hope for the best!
Ideas
If you want to find out what your body fat is you can visit your physician and he/she can measure you with a caliper, have your personal trainer measure you with a caliper, purchase a caliper (price ranges vary between affordable to very expensive) or you can use an online calculator by inputting your body weight, age, height and other measurements.

Wow, you are such an inspiration. I have a butt load of body fat to lose, but I want to focus on dropping pounds too. Should I focus on cardio and circuit first to help lose this unwanted weight?
