And I am nervous as hell. I’ve asked others with experience what should I expect, when should I get there, how do I prep the morning off and of course I get a lot of different answers so I’m just going to show up early and when the race starts…well, run!
I am training for my first 5k so I’m no idiot. I am only on Week 2, Day 1 and that’s today so I haven’t done it yet, but the good thing is that the race is on April 11, 2009 so I have a lot of time to get my butt into shape. I have started to do free runs after my C25k sessions so I’m getting used to running. My lungs don’t hurt anymore unless I go over 5 mh, but I will keep pushing to get over that each and everytime I go out to run.
I never thought I’d like running. I’ve ran so far from my house and ran back and didn’t blink twice about it. I think I like running than driving. I drive too much so maybe that’s why. I love to just put on my sneakers, throw on my Garmin and go! Sure, it’s cold outside but it makes for a very good challenge. Rocky did it so can I! A lot of people I talk to on the web has this thing for the Governator, but not me…I love Rocky! “Flying high nowwwww! Gonna fly fly fly!” Governator is a real person and Rocky is fictional, but the message of his story is what counts. Put your mind, body and soul into something and you’ll come out on top.

Overall, I’m trying to become more of a positive person. I like to do things by myself because I know that I’ll get things done, but that’s not always the right way to do things so I’m going to start doing group activities, like Spinning and group Swimming. Classes start on the 5th of February and I’m so ready for it! I do love cardio because it kicks butt so bring it on! I also would like to help others. I’ve been helping others lately as my “mission positive initative” and so far so good.
Anyway, I am happy right now to say the least. I am happy to be healthy, somewhat fit and on a road to success with this race I’m about to take on. Not only will the race benefit me, but it will benefit the American Red Cross. I hope to theme all of my 5k’s by non-profit organizations so that I’m helping others who are less fortunate and who I don’t know as well.
Before I go I want to just write out some things I do each day that helps me become more of a positive person.
1. Say three things positive about myself and five things positive about others
2. Do three positive deeds a day (big or small)
3. Read five positive quotes and share them with others
4. Listen to three positive songs
5. Call at least one person I hadn’t talked to in a while to say “hey, I was just thinking about you!”
6. Smile as much as possible!
Have a good day!
