My fitness experiments AND my poor nerves

So, I decided to do a little experiment. Here is the background information…since I’ve dropped the weight I want to start gaining muscle mass which I failed to look into while I was doing all of that cardio to lose the 50lbs. Anyway, I started a new weight lifting program this past Monday and from what I read, I need to decrease my cardio minutes in order to not lose muscle gains.

On Monday, I did my legs program and it went fine – weighed in at 173.2 which is my goal weight – nice. Loved it! I run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, but I skipped it for this experiment. Remember, no cardio! Then on Tuesday, which is supposed to be my cardio day I did nothing – I weighed in at 173.6 – very good. Wednesday, I went into my push program and of course, it went well…no running! I weighed in at 174.6 – I didn’t panic. I woke up on Thursday morning and I hit Peggy (my scale) and she tells me I weigh exactly 175lbs!!! What the hay?! Oh hell-to-the-no! So, last night (which was Thursday) I went to Jillian and did her Cardio Kickbox DVD and sweated my a$$ off. It felt good. I felt good. I forgot how much I missed my cardio.

Good news! I wake up this morning and I weigh exactly 173lbs! Life is good. Cardio is king ladies and gentlemen. Keep moving your behinds and the pounds will stay off!

That’s the last time I’ll experiment like that. I must have lost my mind. My nerves was injured badly yesterday. It almost stressed me out. I don’t have a wide range of fluctuating pounds so I’m allowed to trip off of two pounds so don’t email me yelling at me.

Now that I’m off my soapbox, I wanted to talk about my first Runner’s World magazine issue because I received it, finally, yesterday. I’m currently reading it so I’ll post about how much I love it or hate it, but I’m sure I i will love it. I LOVE THE RUNNER’S WORLD CALENDAR! I plan to order one each year now. It contains tips, advice, marathons around the country, motivational quotes…and it’s a good size and it’s really easy to read AND the photos of runners in different sceneries makes a nice touch. I’m happy with my purchases.

UPS is making my life a living hell. I ordered my Garmin Forerunner 305 the Thursday before last and I have yet to see it in my hands. I’ve been tracking the order and it hadn’t been scanned for four days…who does that? So, finally it gets scanned yesterday in NJ which is wonderful so that means I’ll get it today???? Only God knows, but the current status is OUT FOR DELIVERY so there is hope. This is worse than waiting for the Shock Training System by Cathe to come out. I’ll remain calm, but this is rediculous.

Speaking of Cathe Friedrich, she directly spoke to me on her forums (my name is Sass over there). I know it’s cheesy to bring it up and very “groupie” like, but it was an honor. I thought it was cool!

Lastly, I wanted to bring up that I read through WebMD’s Vitamin and Supplements Center, as well as their Healthy Eating and Dieting section at least once week. Take a 101 crash course on both. I find it overwhelming loaded with good information about diet and fitness. It’s a wonderful resource for one to have for free. Yes, free…before you go out and buy a book from Amazon or B&N look at your free resources first. Start with WebMD!

A Spark Buddy and friend of mine told me today that she feels tired and sluggish in the afternoons and it almost prevents her from working out – EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK! She had asked if I used any supplements to gain energy and I said no because I don’t. I expect to get that from the multi-vitamin I choose soon. I referred her to WebMD because they have an entire section dedicated to energy foods and how to beat fatigue. Take a look and enjoy!
